Tip of the Week: Lawn Maintenance

Uncategorized

Choose the Right Time: Cut the grass when it’s dry, usually in the morning or late afternoon. Wet grass can clog your mower and result in uneven cuts.

Maintain Your Mower: Keep your lawn mower blades sharp for a clean cut. Dull blades can tear grass, leaving it susceptible to disease and discoloration.

Mow at the Right Height: Adjust your mower’s cutting height based on the type of grass you have. Different grass species have different ideal cutting heights. Generally, it’s recommended to avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height in a single mow.

Alternate Mowing Patterns: Change your mowing pattern each time you mow. This prevents grass from developing a grain and encourages upright growth.

Trim the Edges: Use a string trimmer or lawn edger to tidy up the edges of your lawn after mowing. This gives your lawn a polished look.

Mulch or Bag: Consider mulching the grass clippings back into the lawn if they’re small. Mulching returns nutrients to the soil. If the grass is too long or wet, bag the clippings to avoid smothering the grass.

Maintain Regularity: Aim to mow your lawn regularly, especially during the growing season. This helps maintain a consistent appearance and keeps the grass healthy.

By following these tips, you can ensure a well-maintained and healthy lawn throughout the year.
